What is Supervised Visitation and How Does it Work?

In some cases when children are involved, supervised visitation may be granted to one party in the case. This could be because the judge views that part of the party as neglectful or even the parent may be seen as abusive. Court-supervised visitation can sometimes be temporary; this could be true while the individual is attending mandated therapy or counseling for their actions that are seen as neglectful. This can be especially true if the parent has or had a drug or alcohol problem and is currently in rehab for their addiction problems. But, in some cases, supervised visitation can be indefinite. Supervised visitations can take place through multiple different locations/ways: sometimes through a courthouse, through an ordered location by the court, private party or “supervised” visitation, or through an agency that supervises the visitation for a fee.
